Great Fire at Smyrna.
[Age Special per United Press Association.] [Rooeived Oot. 5, at 2.40 p.m.] LONDON, Oct. 4. A great fire has occurred at Smyrna, causing immense destruction of property. ______ ________ DUKEDIN, Oct. 5. At the City Court, to-day, Louis and Solomon Cohen, were charged with selling goods on false pretenoos. Ihey went to Aloysius College, and represented that they had been sent there by Bishop Moran, and the Mother Buperior Gabriel, of Timaru. On the faith of these and other representations, whioh proved to be untrue, Father O'Malley purohased goods. The Bench considered that there was no caso for a jury, and discharged the prisoners. The store of Thomas Ambrose, bt Mandoville, was burned down oh Tueßday. The property was insured in the South British for £350. Mr Dalgety cables :— Good, fina qualify mutton, ex Mataura, sold at from Sid to 6d. on Oot. 2. ■
