FATAL TRAM ACCIDENT.
« [Peb Pbsss Association.] WELLINGTON, Oct. 1. A fatal aocident occurred here at 830 last night. A lad named Frederick Williams, aged 14, employed in Towersey's bakovy shop, was proceeding to his homo at Newfcown by the 8 o'clock tram. He was accompanied by his father, and both were on the second platform of t.ho first carriage. When nearly opposite St Mark's Church in Ru63oi square, a nudden jerk threw young Williams off, and ho fell under the socond earringe, both whrelr. of which passed over him. From too way he fell, tho wheels pawed from the left choulder aeroßs on to the right leg, causiDg terible injurico. He iraa rumored to the hospital, bat died aluio3t fcompdialoly after arrival there. As tooti us ihe accident was obssrved t'-e tram was stopped, but the carrißgo hud ta bo lifted before the lad could be extricated. No bhme whatever iB attributed to the tram oflbials. An inquest will, of course, be held.
