CANTERBURY LINSEED COMPANY.
Tho ordinary meeting of the Provisional Directors of the Canterbury Linaeed Oil and Fibre Company (Limited), was held at the rooms of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, at 2.30' p.m. to-day. Present : — Messrs James Jameson (Ohairman),J.G. Euddenklau, 0, Kiver, T. Ackland, IT. Murphy (hon.,scc.J, Q. KiDg, J. Miln. ." Some email accounts wero passed for paymont. A letter wan read from Mr J. Coofce, apologising for his absence on account of businf S3 engagement* requiring his presence in V^ellington. He urged on the Company tha/'fceceesity of energetic action in carrying* out; its objects, *v" i'he Chairman said that the chief business before tho meeting was the question of the appointment of permanent directors. Mr Woston had informed him that it was legal either for tho provisional directors to appoint those who were to hold office permanently, or to cull a meeting of shareholders to do bo. Mr Buddenklau suggested that as the names of tho Provisional Dirootora had been published, it, would be tho beßt plan to elect all the Provisional Directors who wore eligible for the office ns permanent Directors. Tho annual meeting would have to bo hel3 in January, and the directory would go out of office. It was pointed out that the number of Directors wns limited to ninp, though a general meeting of shareholders could increase that, number. After a brief discuPßiot), Mr Miln go.id he thought the beet plan would be to elect Directors at or.cc. Oq the motion of Mr Kivcr, secondod by Mr Acland, the following prntlemen were elocccd : — Messrs J. G. Kudd^nklan, T. Acland, J. P. Jameson, J. OooVo, C. Kiver, a. King, E. GJ. fclavely, J. Miln, and Dr Doyle. A digeussion enßUod on the question of Bondiiig homo for machinery by the next mail. The Chairman thought that the Company might Bond for one American machlno and two tputcheri, as arranged for at last meeting. It was reeolvcd, on tho mo'ioa of Mr Kuddenklau, seconded by Mr Miln, to send for tho machinery at, once. Ifc was decided that, tho future meetings of the Directors should tako pluco at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays.
