LONDON, Maboh 17. The racing boat which Trickett, the New South Wales oarsman brought with him from Toronto, and which was built upon the lines of Hanlan's boat, has been smashed by a collision on the Thames.

Tho meeting also passed a resolution demanding the recall of Mr Lowell by the United States Government.

The rule for a new trial in the libel case, Scott v. Sampson (the Referee case), haß been discharged. A child who was kidnapped from Berne, in Switzerland, and for whoae ransom 50,000 franca were demanded, has been found in a lonely house in one of the suburbs. Three persons have been arrested.

Fortupately no lives were lost, A numbor of prisoners who had been condemned to imprisonment in Siberia have escaped. Among them were several who had been banished for politioal offences. Labourers in Ireland are organising, with a viow to securing higher wages from the tonant farmers.
