THE EXHIBITION.

A meeting of the aub-Committeo appointed to arrange for the musical part of • the- Exhibition festivities waa held at the City- Council Chambers on Thursday evening.-. It wasresolved that competitive Band performances should be held commencing onTuesda-, May 2. Prizes to be offered for- the beßt general performances of the band, and also for the beßt performances -on the various instruments. Competitive choral performances will also be held, commencing from May 9, for whioh a number of prizes will be given, including medals for the. best schooli singing. It was further resolved thai; general concerts be given during .the -Exhibition, under the leadership of Messrs Simma- and Barnett, who were authorised -to draw- up rules and regulations. Mr" Izard was appointed Secretary and Treasurer to. the Committee. Messrs H. . Thomson, B. Walton, Ollivier, Pratt, Louisoon, and Newby were authorised to collect- subscriptions for prizes, &o. A meeting of Orangemen was held at the Orange Hall last evening, to make arrangements for part of the Order joining in the procession. W.G.M. Bro Prodhoe presided*, and there were over 30 members present. Bro - Fleming proposed that the Orangemenmarch with colours and saohes in the Exhibition procession. The moiiori waa • secondedby Bro Palmor, and carried. Bro Stapleton was appointed Marshal. The .Chairman. said, he did not think free invitations would be given to the officers of each Lodge, but only to. the four principal oflioersof the whole Order. The following were appointed a Committee to make future arrangements .-—Messrs- Stapleton, Palmer, Forsyth, W>.' S. King,. Furgusson, Hewitt, Johnston, Crozier, and Willis.. The Chairman hoped that the- Protestant Alliance Band would be ..able to accompany, the procession.
