MRS HAMPSON'S MISSION.

Mrs Hampson's meeting in tho Theatre Royal, at half-past twelve yesterday, was well attended. The stalls were kept filled during the hour the meeting was in progress by persons who, for the most part, spent about ten minutes at the service. Mrs Hampson delivered a short address on prayer, illustrated by tho subject of Jacob wrestling with tho angel. She al o read several requests for prayer she had received from personß in distress. Several Ministers and others present engaged in prayer at intervals during the meeting.

At 3 p.m., a meeting of ladies was held in the Theatre, at which there was a large attendance. After singing and . prayer, Mrs Hampson, in tbe course of her address, said she had called tbo ladies together that she might form a Prayer Union, to be called the " Christchurch Ladies' Prayer Union," and to be composed of christian women who will agree to meet once a week for an hour's mutual consultation and encouragement, and for prayer. At the evening service there was a large attendance. Mr Twentyman, jun., presided at tho organ, and led the singing with his choir. The Rev A. Blake, of Prebbleton, engaged in prayer. Mra Hampeou chose for her text John iii., the latter part- of verses 7 and 14, and delivored an earnest and impressive address, which was listened _ to throughout with the most eager attention. To-day there will be two services at the Theatre Boyal, at 12.30 and 7:30 p.m.
