SATUEDAT, NOV. 26. (Beforo R. Wostenra and V. Hobbo, Eaqs.) Purrr Lakceny.— Thomas Jardino was charged, on remand, wilh stealing a meat chopper, value 3s, tho property of Benjamin Searle. Mr Stringer appeared for accused. Tho evidenco Bhowed that the chopper in question had beon missed from tho jard of the .foresters' Arm?, of which prosecutor was licensee, on tho previous morning, and subs?quently found in prisoner's cart, along with eoine bottles he had collected. It was suggested for the defenco that the accused had pickod tho chopper up in tho right-of-way running by tho hotel, as it appeared that, somo children had boen playing with it in tho hotel yard tho night beforo it was missed. Mr Stringer called tho Hey. J. Ward, who said that ho believed the accused had been endeavouring to lead an honest lifo for a considerable timo past, and that ho was very industrious. Iho Bench cautioned tho prisoner not to appear in a similar predicamei t again, and took a lonieut viow of tho present case, ordering a conviction to bo entered, and discharging the prisoner.
