She left Auckland on August 20, and had fine weather as far as Napier; thenco heavy southerly winds to arrival. The Penguin sailed for Akaroa and Port Chalmers at 1 p.m. Mr Buoyard, late second officer of the New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Waipa, has been appointed chief officer of the ship Waimea, now at Wellington. All claims arainst the ship St Leonards, respecting her inward cargo, muat be sent in to Messrs Etwards, Bennett and Co., not later than tomorrow.

Tha three-masted cchooner Agnes Jessie, from Hobart. with a oargo of timber, palings, shingles aad fruit, arrived in harbour yesterday afternoon. The firat Japanese merchant vessel, the Koraor, 317 tons register, that has visited Newcastle, N.S.W., arrived there on August 11. She was to load coal for Yokohama.
