That the thanks of this Synod be given to the Rev H. 0. M. Watson for the sermon which he preached in St Michael's Church on Tuesday evening lasfc. 11. The Yen Archdeacon Harper, to move — That this Synod recognises with satisfaction the efforts which have been made during the past year to improve the efficiency of the Sunday schools throughout the Diocese. 111. The Roy E. A. Lingard, to moveThat in the opinion of thia Synod it is desirable that the cost of a marriage license, for a marriago to be solemnised in the Cathedral, bo £10, and that tho Bishop be respectfully requested to give effoct to thiß resolution.

The Very Rev the Dean to moveThat this Synod respectfully congratulates the Most Bey the President on the recent completion of the twenty-fifth year of hia episcopate, desiring at the same time to acknowledge, with thankfulness, the many blessings which this Diocese has enjoyed under His Lordship's kindly rule, and heartily prays that a long continuance of health and strength may be granted to him for the discharge of his important duties as Bishop of this .Diocese and Primate of this ecclesiastical Province.

VI. The Yen Archdeacon Harper, to move—

That it be a recommendation to the Church Property Trustees to raise in such manner as may seem most desirable, a sum not exceeding £2000, to be distributed in such manner as the Standing Committeo may direct in assistance of the erectiou and enlargement of ohurches, schools, and parsonages throughout the Dioceso.

VII. The Rev H. C. M. Watson to move—

I.' That a Committee of nine persons be appointed to considor and report upon that portion of the Bishop's address referring to the necessity of increased church accommodation in certain cases.

2. That the Committee shall consist of the foUowing peraons : — The Yen Archdeacon Harper, tho RevsE. A. Lingard, E. G. Penny, J. Townsend, Messrs Blakiston, 0. R. Grigg, Malet, Webb, and the mover.

VIII. Mr Malet to move —

That, the Synod approvee of the purchase of land in Chester street for the purpose of a Bite for the Cathedral achool and the erection of the school buildings thereon.

That tho Ohurch Property Trustees be requested to provide tho necessary funds for defraying the cost of tho site, school buildingß, and other incidental expenses. That tho Ohurch Property Trustees bo further requested to provide tho sum of £62 10a towards the stipend of the precentor from' the 25th of June, and £75 for the satory of the orgnnißt from the date of hia appointment to the 27th day of October, the date upon which the Cathedral is to bo opened. That the Church Property Trustees are hereby authorised to appropriate the balance to the oredit of the income account of the Dean and Chapter estate, or to raise a loan of £1200, to be charged to the above eßtate, as may bo considered most desirable after conferring with tho Chapter, to provide tho funds for the above purposes.

IX. The Hon J. B. Acland to move — For leavo to bring in a Bill for extending the operation of tho standing orders. K. The Rev E. A. Lingard to move —

1. That a Select Committee be appointed to take into consideration the expediency or otherwiso of altering jtho boundaries of the parishes of St Mary's, Merivale, and of St Luko's, Christehurcn, respectively.

2. That tho Committee conaiat of Rev T. Flavell, Bey R. A. Mortimor, Messrs Beatson, Curnow, 0. R. Blakiston, Parker, and the mover.

XI. The Boy G. CotterUl to move—

That a payment at the rate of £50 per annum from tho Church Property Trust Fund bo aUowed to each Oure in the Provincial District of Canterbury for tho year ending Deo. 31, 1882, and fer the same year a payment at the rate of £60 per annum shaU

bo made to the chaplain of the Chriatchurch Hospital, Lunatic Asylum, Female Refuge, and other public institutions ; also a payment at the rate of £25 per annum shall bo made to the acting chaplain of the Chrißtchurch gaol and barracks, and tho samo amount to the acting chaplain of the Lyttolton gaol. The above allowances to be Bubject to a pro rata deduction in case of insufficient income. XII. The Rev F/A. Hare to moveThat inasmuch as the time of year at which tho examinations under the Board of Theological Studies are now held ia a most inconvenient one to those candidates who are also Btudving with a \iew to taking a degree at tho New Zealand University, this Synod respectfully requests tho Board to consider tho advisability of altering tho date of their examinations to some time near tho end of the long vacation — i.e., towards the end of February or early in March.

That the Synod recommend the Church Property Trustees to grant a sum of £500 to meet a Bum of £1500 by public subscription, towards the purchase of a site and erection of a permanent church at Phillipstown.
