FARMERS' CO-OPERATIVE ASSOOIATION.

A meeting of the Provisional 3)ircctors of the Farmers' Co-operative Association was held at the Corn Exchange, on Saturday afternoon, at half-past one ; prtsent — Messrs Ennor (in the chair), Peryman, WjlHb, Mathiaß, Leadley, Jenkins, Starkey, Courage, Anton, Parker, Gough, ParsonF, Holme?, Greenwood, M'Beth, Milne, Pearson, Dicienson, Higgins, Gammack, Woodman, Ovcrton, Amies, Henderson and Bruce.

The Chairman read the sub-Committee's report, revising Articles of Memorandum of Association. The report recommended that the name of the Association bo altered from "North Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association" to "New Zealand Farmers' Cooperative Association of Canterbury (Limited)," the Committee considering that the original title was of too local a charaster. It was further ycfommended that the proposed capital should be increased to £250,000, in 50,000 Bhares of £5 each, the first issue of not more than 20,000 shares, to be payable as follows -.—los per share on application, 10s on allotment, and 5s calls to be made at intervals of not less than three months.

The foregoing recommendations were approved by the meeting. Mr Maude (of Harper and Co.) then read the arfcieleß of Association, in which eunrlry alterations had been made by the Committee. Tbe alterations were generally approved by tho meeting, and one or two additions made, the most important of which was— That the holder of one share be entitled to tho benefits of the Association; and that no original application for shares in more than ona person's name would be entertained. A subCommittee consisting of Mubm-s Ensor, Parsons, J. Holmes, Courage and Peryman was appointed to revise and ifino tho prospectus of the Association, and to make arrangements for receiving applications for shares.

This concluded tha business of the meeting, Tiie sub-Committee met at the close of the meeting and arranged several matters of detail.
