Thubsdat, June 9. (Before J. Ollivier, R. Westenra, and J. E. Parker, Esqs.) Dbunx_nnbb3.—Two first offenders, who had been locked up all night, were discharged with a caution. Labobnt.—William Fowler was charged with stealing 12s 6d from the till of the shop of Margaret M'Nish, in Cashel street, on the previous day. Margaret M'Nish deposed that about four o'olock on the previous afternoon the prisoner came behmd tho counter of her shop and took 12s 6d from the till. Witness caught hold of prisoner, who dropped 2s and then pushed her down and ran away. She screamed out, and a gentleman who was passing detained prisoner till a constable arrived. Arthur Olarkson, son of Samuel Olarkson, builder, Oashel street, deposed to seeing prisoner leave Mrs M'Nish's shop and go up a right-of-way towards Lichfield street, where a gentleman detained him till he was arrested. Edward Aldridge said that about 4 p.m. yesterday Mrs M'Nish called his attention to prisoner, saying he had robbed her. Witness followed prisoner and gave him in oharge. Constable M'Cansland stated that he arrested prisoner on the chargo in question. He had 2s j>d on him. He made no statement to witness. Sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour.
