PROFESSOR HASELMAYER.
Professor Haselmayer, who is announced to appear in this city after a lengthy and most successful tour through the South African colonies, will be well remembered from his last visit here. His success throughout Australia was unparalleled, and he well deserved tho rest which he proposed to take. He proceeded to Europe, and spent more than a year on a tour upon the Continent, finding his way eventually to Vienna, his native city, and unable to resist his inclination for mechanical pursuits, he gave rein once more to his marvellous inventive powers. In Vienna, he perfected some new apparatus and developed other no lesß extraordinary inventions. With these, after astounding people elsewhere, he now comes amongst us. Professor Haselmayer's life has not been without a romantic Bide to it. While in Austria he obtained a partner, this time in the person of a charming young lady, whom he married. Professor Haselmayer travelled the world, and with fortune and fame returns onco more to Christchurch. The marriage took place at Buda-Pest on the Danube. Madame Haselmayer is a native of France, but was reared and educated in Vienna. She has the polish of Viennese society, and is certainly a brilliant and most entertaining lady ; the fortunate possessor of rare charms in face and figure, and a vivacity of manner that is quite pleasing. We have no doubt she will become a great favourite with the public of this city.
