reported that a large number of Natives have been butchered, and that several white traders have also fallen victims. Nov. 29. Another victory has been gained by the Cape forces in Basutoland, now acting under the direction of Brigadier-General Clarke. A body of troops despatched against the Native stronghold at .Lerida, whore the Basutos were mustered in force, succeeded in storming the place and inflicting severe loss on the enemy. Tnckett, the Australian oarsman, is suffering from indisposition. His health has not been good for some days, but his illness is not considered of a serious nature. A match for £200 a-Bide was rowed today over the Thames Champion course between Trickctt, of Sydney, and Wallace Boss, of Bt. John's, New Brunswick. Trickett was not in his best form, but he succeeded in easily beating his opponent, winning by some lengths.
