The candidates nominated were <Captain Morris, Measrß Allan, M'Donald, and Woodbine Johnston. The show of hands was in favour of Captain Movris. ;•; •••■■■•! i- Nelson, August 29. > Mr R. J. Eichmond and Mr Wartney have both addressed large meetings of electors for the snbnrbs, at Richmond. Mr r John Graham addressed a crowded meeting at Nelson, last night, and wai very favourably received. He spoke in favour of Sir George Grey's proposals, but against Mr Macandrew. He said he was probably the . first working meohanio who had put up in New Zealand, and he considered the class to ■which ho belonged should be represented -from amongst themselves. The Mayor occupied the -chair, 'and the leading Liberals wore on the platform. Sir G. Grey spoke for two hours, ;*hd met with no interruption, and was frequently applauded.
