There is no further news of importance regarding the Maoris in the Upper Waiiaki. They seem gratified that no Volunteers were sent to remove them. They express the utmost contempt for the "Volunteer soldiers, and had they gone up, there would no doubt have been a disturbance.
DUNEDIN. [special] August 13,
At a meeting of Mr H. 0. Beid's creditors today, the trttstee'fl report showed a deficiency of £3000. The assets will yield about 4d in the pound. After further discussion it was resolved that the trustee be instructed to take advice as to whether it is possible to prosecute Mr Reid criminally, and it we reply be in the affirmative that immediate ■tops be tafon in that ejection. On_ Mr Fenwick's resolution it was agreed that Mr Leajy be authorised to detain £50 out of the asset* of theestisefor his cervices, and that the balance be distributed pro raia amongst tlio creditors.
