The following liat of insurances has been supplied by the manager of the Union Insurance Company, Chriatchurch, which, it will be seen, differs slightly from that telegraphed by the Press Association :— South British, £3400 5 Transatlantic, £3000 ; New Zealand, £2500 j Standard,' £2soo ; Union, £2400; Victoria, £1560 j National, £1450 ; Colonial, £1400 } . North .British, £1250 ; Hanseatjor^llOO ; Xondon and Lancashire, £950 j-Koyal, £900; Northern, £700 $ Imperial, £500 ; Hamburg Magdeburg, £500 ; Guardiarj/sSOO ; Norwich Union, £250 ; Sun, £175 ; Manchester, £150 ; total, £24,985. / Oar Wellington correspondent telegraphs: The fire has, to-day, been the one topic of conversation. It made a tromendous. sweep, and in the? e dull times many of those burned out will suffer greafly. The insurances only covered a very unaU portion of the loss. There is no chance of the Opera House boing rebuilt, as it was a very losing concern. Any buildings now' put up will have to bo of brick. An inqueab will, of course, bo held.
