[bpeoial.] Mat 27. .There has been very little excitement oyer the mayoralty contest to-day. Neither side appeared well organised, and the total number of votes polled was very small. Throughout the day Mr Hutchison appeared 'to be the favourite. The result of the poll was— Hutchison, 679 ; Hunter, 644; majority for Hutchison, 35. The Court of Appeal was bcoupied all day with the case of Kawanta v. Kinross, and the Eesidenfc Magistrate's Courfc with the prosetion of Kinross for perjury.' Both cases are unfinished.
