(Before G. L. Mellish, Esq., R.M.) Duuxk axd Disorderly.— John Peters was fined 10s ; Alexander Kellett, for being druuk and accosting two ladies in fche street, was fined 20a. — Wm. Burgess, for drunkenness, obstructing the firemen afc the Lichfield street fire, and using obscene language, was fined 20s. and 2s cab hire. A charge against Margaret; Shannon, for being drunk" and using obscene language in Cathedral Square at half-past twelve fchafc morning, was adjourned until a later hour in the day — A first offender was fined os.

Obscene Language.— Margaret Maloney arrested for using obscene language afc 11 p.m. in Oxford Terrace, was fined 20s.

MisAi>rßorniATixa a Cheque.— Robert Vinson was charged on remand wifch misappropriating a cheque for £24, which had been entrusted to him as an agent afc Napier. On fche application of Inspector Hickson, accused was remanded to Nattier to appear on Feb. 15. Bail was allowed in tn-o sureties of £100 each, accused in £200.

Deunk and Disorderly. — Mavgarcfc Shannon was again brought; up, and the evidence of the watchman at fche Bank of New Zealand was taken. He could nofc say that she had beeu druuk, bufc had heard her use obscene language. He had seen the police arrest; her on previous occasions, and in his opinion she was as much intoxicated as site had appeared to be on those occasions. His opinion was that it would be for her safety to be locked up. She was not walking like a perfectly sober person. To prisoner : 1 have seen you arrested on several occasions. Prisjner : You never saw me walk to fche station ; I was always taken in a -ab. Constable M'Gill deposed that he was in charge of the watch-house when prisoner was brought in. She was drunk. To prisoner : I did not see you with a bottle of porter. Prisoner : I took a bottle of beer into the cell and drank it there wifch another prisoner. If you were nofc drunk how was it you did not see that. Constable Lawler deposed fchat he had heard prisoner use very foul language. She was drunk when arrested, and had to be carried to the watch-house. She had not a bottle in her hand. Prisoner : I had a bottle aud the other prisoner lent; me her boot. I knocked fche neck of the bofctle off with the heel of hor boot. The Bench inflicted a fine of 20s.
