Ltttelton Habboub Boabd Election. The nomination of candidates to represent the city on the Lyttelton Harbour Board took place afc the Council Chambers to-day, at noon. The following gentlemen wore nominated :— Robert Allan, Frederick Jenkins, and Henry Sawlell. A poll for the election of two candidates will take place at fche City Council chambers ou Monday, Feb. 10, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. r Railway. Waggons.— By tho lasfc Suez mail an advice was received by the Railway department, stating fchafc fche ironwork of 100 waggons had been forwarded— so for LytfcletonandSO for Port Chalmers. This'shipment will arrive in aboufc a fortnight, and as fche woodwork is now waiting, completed in the railway workshops, the waggons will be ready for running in aboufc a fortnight afterwards.

Toomer Senr. and Co.'s Picnic. — The picnic of Messrs Toomer Senr. and Co.'s employees took place to-day. A start was made from the factory, the company fillit g three large omnibuses and a number of traps. CAn Unsafe Bridge. — A notice lias lately been erected afc the Heathcote swing bridge, informing travellers " This bridge is unsafe for traffic." Board of Education.— The Board of Education yesterday held the usual fortnightly meeting, at which a large amount of business was transacted. A report of fche meeting appears in another column.

Cricket. — A match was played in Hagloy Park yesterday between the Normal and High Schools, which resulted in an easy victory for the former. Crcsswell (captain), England, M'Gregor, and Brown did good service for the Normal, and Wood, Tato, and Fleming played well for the latter.

Oxford. — A general meefcing of the members of fche Oxford Amateur Dramatic Club was held at Gilchrist's Hotel on Tuesday evening, when it was decided to play the drama of " The Peep Show Man " nexfc month for the benefit of the wardrobe fund of the Club.

Lytteltox Colonists' Society.— A meeting of (he Committee of this Society was held on Wednesday evening, Mr J. C. Boddington, President, in the chair. The plans and specifications for the proposed additions to the Hall were laid upon the table, and the subcommittee were authorised to call for tenders for carrying out fche work. A Troublesome Fellow at the Fire. — A man named Burgess, who seemed to be under the influence of drink, caused a great, deal of trouble afc fche Lichfield street fire lasfc evening by interfering with fche firemen. After putting up with his annoyance for some time, Superintendent; Harris gave the man into custody, and lie was taken fco the lock-up.
