PARLIAMENT OUT OF SESSION.
Mr Alfred Saunders, member of the House of Representatives for fche Cheviot electoral district, last nighfcaddressed a portion of his constituents at the school-house, Waikari. Mr W. A. Willis occupied the chair, and 'there were thirty electors present. The tenor of Mr Saunders' speech was the reason he did nofc support the Grey Ministry throughout the session, and he explained his reasons for not doing so in a very satisfactory manner. In reference to the extension of the northern railway, lie gave Messrs C. C. Bowen and E.Richardson great credit for fche manner in which they had oxerted themselves in the matter, and stated fchat the work now under contract was merely a Bhorfc length, viz., to the Waipara river, and there had been nothing definite done with respect to the continuation of fche line. Afc the conclusion of his addreess several questions were answered by Mr Saunders, aud a very hearty aud unanimous vote of confidence was accorded to him. A special vote of thanks was also accorded aud ordered to be forwarded to Messrs Bowen and^Richardson for the pains fchey had taken Northern Railway extension.
