NELSON, Jan. 11. [special] Wilson and Mercer, journeymen employed by Mr James, cabinetmaker, were arrested on a charge of robbery, &c., from their employer's warehouse. Their premises were found well stocked with goods, and everything was identified by Mr James. Both were about to bo married. They were remanded for ten days. Tho local members of the Eifle Association met Mr Stevens, the Secretary, who arrived this morning to make arrangements, and accompanied him to Br.'ghtwater to fix the site for the butts. The Stoke Eifles have subscribed for an All-comers' Prize afc the meeting, and it is likely that others will follow suit. A meeting has been held to consider the means of extending the workings of the Wallsend Company at Collingwood, and open u]J a new 4ft seam. A proposition was favourably received to endeavour to obtain additional shareholders. It was stated at the meeting that there was every probability of an English Company with a large capital working the iron measures at Collingwood. Harvesting has commenced, and labour is very scarce. The crops all look splendid, and the yield is estimated from 40 bushels upwards.
