CARTERTON.
[special] Lateb. /' Serious bush fires arc raging here, and a portion of the town is in danger. The wind is driving the flames towards the houses, and some of the fences of backyards are already burnt. f The town is in great danger, and the fire is spreading rapidly. The police and telegraph offices have been on fire, but the flames were got under. The fire engine has been sent for from Masterton, and is expected in a. few flours. The appearance of matters is very bad.
