MELBOURNE, Jan. 9.
It is estimated that rust has destroyed a quarter of the wheat crop of Victoria. Three men like the Kelly gang have crossed the border at Albury. Photographic forgeries of Union Bank one pound notes are circulating. Wheat easy at 4s Bd. SYDNEY, Jan. 9. The lock-out in the Woollongong mines keeps 6000 men idle. Another difficulty has occurred, owing to the seamen who have refused to resume work demanding back pay from the time of the strike. Other similar claims are made, whicli are supported by the Seamen's Union. The A.S.N. Company's Board are considering the demand.
Operations on the site of the International Exhibition buildings were commenced to-day. The Southern train ran oil: the line last night. No serious damage was done.
