HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

Waimabariri rates, £10 10a 9d ; ordinary, roal l rates, £131 9s 2d ; other sources, £5 ; total, £626 19s lid. -- Mr E. Garland waited on the Board, re River road at Opawa, and was informed the ; Board thought it was too late to make any alterations in Messrs Farland's contract. Roads at St Martin's — The Board decided it could not undertake the management of any private roads until the same are dedicated and formed. • : .■ »•. Horler's soap works at the quay. — The proprietor waited on the Board and stated that he had abated the nuisance complained of as far as lay in his power, and in reference to the obstruction on the River road. — The Board urged upon Mr Horler the necessity of appointing som.3 one to test the correctness of the survey, in order to prevent future misunderstanding, when he consented to do so. Letter from Mr Huddleston, with memo, from Mr Guff, re survey of River road, at Mr J. S. Williams'. — Deferred till next meeting, Letter from City Council, with enclosure from "

Jones, re drainage. — To be informed that the_ firafi part of ffis letter is being attended' to/>and the second is under consideration. . -I. From Mr Buick and the chairman of the Lower Heathcote school committee, asking fJr gravel screenings. — To be informed that the Board has no gravel pit. Requisition from Mr G. L. Lee and others, for a footpath along the Avon River road. — The Board considers the road is too narrow to admit of same. • From E. J. T. Ford, re River Reserve road. — To be informed that the Board will attend to same at once. From Chrißtchurch City Council, complaining of a nuisance on the East town belt.— The clerk was directed to write asking, the Council to point out exact locality of of same. From Messrs Austin ahd Kirk. — The chair man and Mr Danlop agreed to go over theroads spoken of, and see what was required. JFrom Mr J. S. Williams, appointing a surveyor to re-survey the River road. From Mr M'Gava, complaining of the water on his sections at Waltham being backed up by the drain in the said district. — Referred to the Heathcote and Spreydon Drainage committee. The clerk was instructed to get a conveyance drawn of the road purchased from Mr F. Brittan. The foreman was directed to get drain pipes and put them in where required across the roads leading from section 69, on the Ferry road. Tenders for gravelling Canal Reserve road were opened, and one accepted ; also, for improvements at Moa Bone Point, on the Sumner road, were opened, and one approved of, which the clerk was instructed to forward to the Government for their sanction. Accounts to the amount of £122 17s 7d were passed, and ordered to be paid, when the Board adjourned.
