The' farce of " The Swiss Cottage concluded the performance. New Brighton. — It is intended to resume the steam-boat trips between Christchurch and New Brighton early in next week. '- The steamer, which now lies in fche river Heathcote, has been renovated since last season, and is to be taken round to New Brighton on Sunday next. During the recess a great many improvements tending to the comfort of visitorshave been made at New Brighton. Looaii Industry. — Mr H. Fisher, Hereford street, has just- completed a very handsome picture frame, ordered by a gentleman in Southland, for the purpose of being Bent to England. It is intended to enclose an oil 1 painting of New Zealand scenery, for presentation to the " Cotton Lords of Manchester," ,as a specimen of New Zealand art. The frame is 4ft lOin by 3ft 6iu, very neat in design, and exceedingly well finished. Licensed Vic'tualiiEbs' Association. — The annual meeting of the association took place yesterday evening at Morton's Hotel. There was a full attendance of members. The annual report and* balance-sheet were submitted and passed, the latter shewing a good balance to the credit of the association. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year : — President, Mr D. M'Guinness ; treasurer, Mr W. Schmidt ; secretary, Mr F. O.Tribe (re-elected) ; standing committee, Messrs Prieton, Morten, Wagner, Beattie. and Blyth.
