Serious Accident. — A serious accident happened at Kuiapoi yesterday afternoon to Mr Charles Rimtuington, farmer, Eyreton. He was driving a loaded dray along the Rangiora and Kaiapoi road, and when between the Sneyd's Arms Hotel and the Girder bridge, he endeavoured to pull his team to tho side of the road to make room for Mr Isaac Wilson, who was driving past. On catching hold of the bridle of the shaft horse, the horse immediately in front of it, or what ia called tho " body horso "of tho team — a young one without blinkers — kicked out and knocked Mr Rimmington under the dray. Ho fell with 'his head close to tho inside of the off wheel, and tho near wheel came on to one of hia thigha and broke it. Fortunately for Mr Rimmington, tho young horse kept on kicking and stopped the dray before tho wheel entirely passed over tho leg, and the shaft horse backed, a liLtle out of the way of its unruly fellow in front, and thus enabled its owner to roll from under the dray. Mr Wilson and others conveyed Mr Rimmington to tho Sneyd's Arms Hotel, and tho former went immediately for Dr Fletcher, who set the leg, but it was rather badly fractured, and other wounds and bruises were inflicted by the kick and fall.

Christchuech Representative Crew. — It is very probable that the Christchurch representative crew will pull in the champion four-oar ontrigger race, with a coxswain. The steering apparatus has not been found to work very satisfactorily, and the services of a coxswain very little over 4st in weight have been obtained should the crew be willing to accept them. Accident. — Mr Hogg, hay and corn dealer, was driving a horse and dray laden with straw along Colombo street, yesterday, when the belly-band of the harness broke and the dray tipped up, causing the horse to bolt. The accident occurred near Mr E. Reece'B, and the horse galloped towards the A 1 Hotel, where it turned into Cashel street, but the off wheel of the dray coming in contact with the end of the footbridge over the side channel, the dray was capsized. On seeing this, Beveral persons ran forward and seized the horse, which, on being released, was found to have sustained no injury.
