(Per New Zealand Press Association.) Wellington, Not. 24. Yesterday the Governor rode from Foxton to Horowhenui, riding over land in dispute amongst the Natives, and examining the respective pas. He was enthusiastically received by 1000 Natives. He harangued them on the necessity of settling their disputes amicably, and by law, which they promised to do. He then proceeded to visit Mr Fox, at Rangitikei. The "West Coast Natives have sent invitations to the Governor to meet him at the united meeting at Manawatu Gorge, to bid him farewell on Wednesday or Thursday. All the assembled tribes will take part. A general amnesty to the Natives will be declared in a few days. The principle has been agreed to by the Government in Cabinet. The details are not yet decided. The Colonial Prize Firing regulations for 1873 are published. They are to be competed for at Nelson. There are t'oui* classes of prizes — Colonial, general, district, and special. At the inquest yesterday, on the body of Sl'Lean, found in the Washdylre, the jury found an open verdict — There is little doubt that the death of M'Lean was by his own hand. It would appear that he had attached the piece of pig iron, 721bs. weight, to his neck by flax, and waded with it on his shoulder to deep water, where the body was found. The inquest to-day, on the man found in a creek at Mount Horrible, whose name is (3-eorge Blactall, is adjourned to. Monday, for further evidence. That taken tends to show that he was accidentally drowned. The body had been in the water a month. Ditnedin, Nov. 23. A depasturing holder, named Brown, residing at Queenstown, whilst"killing a sheep put the knife into his mouth ; the sheep jumped up and kicked the handle down his '.throat, the injury proving fatal. The representation of Otago, at the InterProvincial Regatta, is likely to fall through. The races promise to bo highly successful. Gate 3, &c, realised .-£l5O. Arrived: Bertha, from Mauritius, with 173 tons sugar. She reports that on October 9, the brig Emilie, was loading at Mauritius, for Lyttelton. Bluff, Nov. 23. The Alhambra has arrived from Dunedin. and sailed for Melbourne.
