GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
[Special report per Greville and .Co., Router's agents.] Wellington, Not, 14, 7.35 p.m. Tho House sat a few hours to-day, nothing important -was done, and it now stands adjourned to noon to-morrow. The Legislative Council by 19 to 5 has struck out Parts five and six of the Public Works and Immigration Bill, which relate to branch railways and rates. Other important amendments have also been made, and the Council is still discussing it. What course the Government will adopt is not known. The Council has accepted the terms of compromise relative to the Payment of Provinces Bill.
