A man named Schoficld, working in the Inverness claim, broke his collar bone. The volunteer review was a great success. The mining claims aro improving. The Tokatea has turned out 1000 o^ for the month; the Caledonian, 6242 oz molded gold for the month ; the Moanatairi, 373 oz for the fortnight; the Royal Oak, 801- oz ; Golden Crown, 126 oz. Caledonians are quoted at £115; Thames, £22; Albion, £7; Central Italy, £2 10s. Thomas Rogan, a gum digger, has been lost iv the bush. Dr Pollen's and Mr Mackay's inteiview with tho Natives is considered highly satisfactory.. There is a rumour that the telegraph line is to be immediately commenced. Wellington, Nov. 13, 1 p.m. The ketch Alert grounded in Maori Bay on Saturday. The crew is safe. 6 p.m. At the inquest on the body of Mr John Hay, of the Independent, the verdict was, fouud drowned. The evidence shews that the deceased intended to see his friends off in the steamer at midnight, and tho general supposition is, that he went down to the wharf, and either missed his footing or was blown off — a strong gale blowing at the time. Nelson, Nov. 13. Sailed.— P.C.E. for Newcastle, Swordfish for Wellington. Hokitika, Nov. 13. The body of tho man named Cumarngs has been found in the Teremakau. TAUIiANGA, NOV. 13. M'Rae, a storekeeper at Rotorua has been arrested on a charge of rape. Wanganui, Nov. 13. The reception committee has decided to accept the postponement of the opening of the bridge to Nov. 29. New Plymouth, Nov. 13. The telegraph between New Plymouth and Stony River will bo erected immediately. Auckland, Nov. 12. A seaman named Gumming? has been fovnd dead.
