CHRISTCHURCH. This Day. (Before C. C. Bo wen, Esq., R."M.) Drunkenness.— Hichard Fraier, in cus tody, admitted having been drunk and incapable in a public thoroughfare yesterday ; but expresiing contrition, with a promise not to offend, and being his first appearance, he was discharged with a caution. Cattle Trespass Ordinance. — The following fines were imposed for breaches of this Act:— Christian Ditford, one horse at large in Lichfield street, 5?; George Osborne, two goats at large in Oxford terrace, 10s ; Johu Hicks, one horse at large in Lichfield street, ss. Chimney on Fire. — George Oram, who did not appoir, was proved, on the evidence of Const ible M'Gnire, to have negligently permitted a chimney at the Clarendon Hotel to get on fire, and was fined 10s. Abusive Language. — Francis Quarterly was summoned for having used abusive and insulting language toward* J. J. Herrick at his store, Tai Tapu. The matter appeared to hare originated out of a disputed account for 2s odd, and the circumstances being proved, accused was fined 10?.
