That was not a bad reply given recently at a meeting to a youngmanwhohad been relating his marvellous exploits in various qurtera of the globe. At the close of one of these narratives, he was not a little set back by the remark of an old codger : — " Young man, ain't you ashamed to talk so when there are older liars on the ground ?" ...,■:. _, The Pittsfield and North Adams Kailroad, in Massachusetts; is not remarkable for speed. A train on it recently came to a dead halt, upon which a passenger exclaimed, '•Well, I wonder what we've stopped for now ?" "Why," explained a fellow-tra-veller, "It's to take the cow-catcher off the engine and put on behind, to keep the cowa from running over üb." \
