Port Chalmers. — August 1, early, Beautiful Star, for Lyttelton; 1 p.m., Airedale, for Lyttelton. Hokitika— August 1, 11.30 a.m., Omeo, for Melbourne.

The brig Spec, which arrived in port yea- . terday, is from Lyttelton, N,Z., with a cargo 'of grain, &c. She left on the 16th ult., and f had to contend against the late heavy • westerly gales until the 9th inst., when she was in lat. 36deg. S., and lon. 160deg. E. Since then the passage has been marked by light variable weather. The brig, with her ">. .. cargo, comes to Messrs Hudson and Watkins. ' --^ Argus, July 19. The command of the large steamship Wonga Wonga, now running from Sydney to Honolulu, has been given to Captain John Steuart, of Melbourne. Captain Steuart is well known as having long held command of the s.s. Aldinga, and there is no doubt that he will be equally popular in his new charge. -—Argus, July 18. The schooner Wild Wave, Captain O'Brien 'left Lyttelton on Saturday, 16th July, carrya fair steady breeze round, until off -•*&di_3iHnui, off which place she arrived on the following Tuesday. For the four following days sEe experienced nothing but light winds and calms, and did not arrive off the Grey until the following Friday night.
