Among the articles, announced for sale at an auction, we perceive " a mahogany child's chair." The father of this wonderful infant must have been of the Wood family. Godpapa (who was a little remiss at the christening): " Well, my boy, you know you? catechism, I suppose? Our friend Guzzler, whose eyesight is failing him, was recommended to try glasses" for its improvement. He says he went and took five or six directly, and the result waa that his eyesight was so improved tbat he could actually see double ! Host (who haß just finished carving a turkey):— "Will you have a ...small piece of the dark meat, or a small piece Of the white meat ?" Hungry guest (who is addioted to the habit of plain speaking): "Thank you, I'll take a large piece of both."
