The Hydaspes is reported in the Home News to have arrived at Scilly on May 9. The Lord Raglan, Canterbury to London, was spoken on the line on April 15, 30 W. The tonnage loading on the berth at London for Australia and New Zealand amounted, on April 22, to 34,700 tons ; on April 29, to 51,422 tons ; on May 6, to 48,650 tons ; on May 13, to 53,000 tons. The " Anglo-Au»tralian " in the European Mail says : —The Monarch leaves for Canterbury on May 25, with some 200 emigrants, and will be followed on July 20 by the Merope, a new ship now building in the Clyde. She is what is called a composite clipper, namely, a mixture of wood and iron. The next emigrant vessel for Canterbury will be the Zealandia, and after her, an emigrant ship, will sail regularly every Bix weeks.
