A brig, supposed to be the Union, from Newcastle, N.S.W., and a barque were signalled when our express left. The ketch Emerald, Capt. Whitby, arrived in harbour from Wellington, yesterday morning having left that port on Saturday, and experienced light fair winds to arrival. The Emerald has a cargo of coal consigned to Mr C. W. Turner. We are indebted to Captain Whitby for late files. The b.s. John Perm, Capt. Carey, arrived in harbour yesterday at 2 p.m. from Dunedin, having left Port Chalmers at 1 p.m. on Sunday, and experienced head winds to arrival. During her stay in Dunedin she has been docked and thoroughly overhauled, and "will now be employed in the trade between Sunedin and Wanganui. The John Perm sailed this day at 1 p.m. for Wellington and Wanganui.
