The negotiations to amalgamate the Bank of Otago with the English and Scottish have been broken off. The shares of the Bank of Otago have suffered slightly. X The Otago University continues its advertisement for professors in the London papers. . - Mr John Marshman, manager of the Canterbury Bail wayß, has. been elected an associate of the Institute of Civil Engineers. XAt a monster meeting at Liverpool on March 14, Sir George Grey characterised the Imperial policy towards New Zealand as disastrous.
