The insufficient size, the bad condition of the fabric, and the unhealthy closeness, of tbe present church, combine -to. make this a work of pressing necessity. It. is proposed to build a wooden church on stone foundations, to hold, when completed, not less than 600 sittings, of which one-third will be free. It has been resolved not to advertise for tenders until the sum of £1000 shall be in hand. The following list represents an amount of £1200 Is, of which the sum of £718 19s 9d has been received. Parishioners and old attendants at St. Michael's, churchmen generally, and old Canterbury : settlers in particular, are asked to join in re-building the Parish Church, the temporary Cathedral, the Mother Church of Canterbury. .",...
