He has but little powder and makes bullets by melting shot in a thimble. He intends to come down for plunder, and afterwards to attack Wilson's redoubt at the port. Mounted men sent up to ascertain his whereabouts reported all quiet aud clear at his old position. A party of one huudred Hau-haus made their appearance at Big River ; they were attacked by Ihaka and driven off. Colonel Whitmore followed them, and during the pursuit Sergeant Reed was killed, the enemy losing one or two men. As Mr Richmond does not mention the murders reported above, it is hoped the account will turn out to be incorrect. The Charybdis, from Wanganui, brings no news of importance. Capt.
