A very pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Te Puke, recently when June Constance, eldest daughter of Mr Brown and the late Mrs 33. Brown, of Te Puke, was married to Francis James, second son of Mrs M. O’Driscoll and the late Mr T. O’Driscoll. The Rev. Father Bleakley officiated at the service and Mrs T. Redwood was the organist. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a slipper length frock of white lace and tulle over taffeta, with a full circular skirt. The tightly-fitting bodice with its short puff sleeves, featured a V-shaped neckline. Her ground-length veil was held in place with a halo of flowers to match. She wore elbowlength mittens and carried a bouquet of white roses, chrysanthemums and lillies interlaced with maidenhair fern. Her only ornament was a gold pendant with an amethyst surrounded by miniature pearls. The bride was maided by her sister, Beryl, whose frock of pale blue organdie over taffeta, displayed a sweetheart neckline, full skirt with frill over hips, and puff sleeves. Her headdress was of pastel autumn shades, and she carried a matching bouquet of chrysanthemums, roses and maidenhair fern. She also wore pale blue mittens. The duties of best man were carried out i>y Mr D. O’Driscoll, and Messrs J. O’Driscoll and H, Bramble were ushers at the church. . The wedding breakfast, served in buffet style, was held at the Parish Hall where the bride’s sister. Mrs B. Calder, wearing a dusky pink frock with grey coat, wine accessories and shoulder spray, received her guests. She was assisted by an aunt of the groom, Mrs. Twidle, of Te Aroha, who was dressed in a smart black ensemble. When, the happy couple left later on their honeymoon, the bride travelled in a brick-red frock with an off-white coat and brown accessories. Mr and Mrs F. O’Driscoll will make their future home in No. 1 Road, Te Puke.
