SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY
49th ANNIVERSARY OF ST. JOHN’S, TE PUKE The children of the St. John the Baptist Sunday School were entertained at their annual party on Saturday afternoon, to mark St. John the Baptist’s Day and the 49th anniversary of the Church. The numerous children present thoroughly enjoyed the programme the first part of which consisted of outdoor games under the able guidance of Misses Barbara Randle and Adrienne Fieldes. A “sweet scramble” and icecreams delighted the children! and they all did justice to the high tea and birthday cake provided by the mothers. The afternoon concluded with community singing, a few items, more games and finally a distribution of sweets . Mrs L. Lawrence decorated the birthday cake and Mesdames J. Randle, A. E. Digby-Smith, F. Antram, and G. D. May gave valued services to make the afternoon an undoubted success.
