FAREWELL TO FOOTBALLER
Fully sixty Rugby Union officials, footballers and friends attended McDowell s Hall last Saturday night to bid 'farewell to Mr S. Satherly, a member of the Papamoa Football Club, who is leaving the district to reside in Frankton. Mr T. E. Palmer was in the chair. A long and varied toast list was honoured!, the chief one “The Guest of the Evening,” being proposed by Messrs A. E. Spratt, F. Pearce and T. E. Palmer. The speakers all spoke eulogistically. of the esteem in which Mr Satherly was held in the district, and also of the loss to football that would result by his leaving Te Puke. He had worked hard, and his enthusiasm in football matters had helped in no small way towards the successful season that had just been completed. Mr Palmer then presented Mr Satherly with a wallet as a token of appreciation. The Papamoa Football Club also made a presentation to Mr Satherly. v The gathering dispersed at midnight with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
