Canoes for Maketu The Maketu Centennial Committee approved of the proposal to seek the permission of Princess Te Puea for the use of the Arawa Centennial canoe at the celebrations at Maketu. The celebrations at Maketu have been fixed for January 2nd, and will mean that the Ai awa people will have the honour of holding the first celebrations of the centennial in New Zealand. Paby Show and Fair The Te Puke branch of the New Zealand Natfioilfil Party will hold their second annual Fair and Baby Show in McDowell’s. Hall to-day, commencing at 11 a.m. Games and competitions have been arranged aiid cakes, sweets, flowers and produce will be obtainable at the various , stalls. The baby show classes for boys and girls have been arranged into three classes, 1 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months, and 12 to 18 months. The result of the photographic snap competition which closed on August 12th, will also be announced.
