AUCKLAND-GISBGORNE AIR SERVICE
PROBABLE USE OF LOCKHEED PLANES It 'is probable that on and alter Monday, July 17th, Lockheed Electra aircraft will be used on the above service instead of the DH-86 aircraft which have been in use since the service was inaugurated. The DH-86 aircraft will be withdrawn for about four weeks as one of the machines is due for overhaul. The Electras are a fine type of aircraft and their advent on this run will no doubt cause considerable interest. They are a faster type of machine than the DH-86 but carry only ten passengers, whereas the DH-86 carries twelve: The Electra will however lift a greater load than the l)H-86 ; the maximum commercial loud being between 2'G'J and 25C0 pounds. This service has been extremely popular, and early booking is, in all eases, most essential to avoid disappointment.
