Refused to Join Union
A youth in Fielding is receiving 10s a week under the social security scheme for doing nothing. It is not that he does not want to work, and not because he has no position to go to. He had a position hut because he refused to join a union and pay the fees, tits employer I must dismiss him or get prosecuted, “Here am I ready to employ the boy and teach him a trade but I was told that if he did not pay his union fees I must dismis him or get prosecuted. The Social Security Department now informs me that, being out of work, the boy has applied for relief and they have granted him 10s a week.”
