MONTHLY MEETINGS

Commencing from September 22nd, meetings of the Borough Council will be held monthly instead of fortnightly as at present. This was a decision arrived at unanimously at Monday evening’s meeting of the Council. In future Borough meetings will be held on the Monday preceding the 25th of each month. “It is worth a trial,” said the Mayor (Mr Ben Keys). “All the committees are working exceptionally well, and no one can complain. If at any time a meeting was required to transact urgent business, he would always be ready to attend. The Municipal Corporations act provided that the Mayor can convene a meeting, or that any three councillors could instruct the Clerk to do so.” The various Committees meet frequently; the work is being carried out most satisfactory, and he (Mr Keys) felt sure that once a month would be sufficent for Councillors to meet to attened to ordinary matters.

Councillors unanimously agreed with the Mayor.
