CLEARING SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., reports as follows on the clearing sale held on account of Mr J. Merriman, To Puke.

There was a fair attendance of buyers but heavy rain spoilt the sale. Although a total clearance was made of implements, pigs and horses at highly satisfactory prices, by the time the dairy cattle came forward to be offered impossible conditions prevailed and they were withdrawn from the sale to be offered at our Te Puke Stock Sale on Tuesday, August 9th. We quote: Medium porkers £2 to £2 10s ; light workers large stores £1 9s to £2 ; slips £1 2s 6d to £l 7s ; light draught Gelding £2B 10s ; aged light draught mare £lO.

CLEARING SALE The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report on a clearing sale held on account of Messrs Meirs and Reugg, on Wednesday, 27th July. A large and representative bench of buyers attended this fixture and the total offering sold at very satisfactory prices. Cows realised up to £lB 10/, horses also selling well, one good shafter mare realising £6O. Competition for pigs was keen; sows with litters made to £ll 5/, and sows to farrow, to £8 5/. Following is a summary of prices: Friesian cows in milk, £ll to £ls 10/ ; others, £8 to £lO 10/ ; Jersey cows in milk, £lllO/ to £ls; others, £BIO/ to £lO 10/; carry-over cows, £4 10/ to £6; springing Friesian cows, £l4 10/ to £lB 10/; later cal vers, £lO 10/ to £l3 10/; backward, £7 to £9; springing Jersey and Jersey-cross cows, £L2 10/ to £l6 10/; later calvers, £9 to £lllO/; backward, £(>• to £8; best springing heifers, £8 10/to £lllO/; backward, £5 5/ to £7 10/; yearling heifers, £3 10/ to £5; Jersey bulls, £6 10/ to 12 cns. Pigs:—Tamworth - Large Black cross sows to farrow, £6 to £8 5/; sows with litters, £5 10/ to £ll 5/; store pigs, 30/ to 39/; slips, 22/ to 24/. Horses:—Good reliable farm horses, all work, £3l to £44 and £6O; 3yr. filly, £4l; 2yr. filly, £3l; light 2vr. gelding, £l4 10/.
