TE PUKE RUGBY UNION
LEAGUE PLAYER’S TRANSFER A meeting of the Te Puke Rugby Union was held last Saturday night, the President, Mr J. Brown, presiding over a full attendance of members and delegates. It was pointed out by members that if the class of football played last Saturday was an indication of the season’s play, a most successful year was assured. C. Satherly, formerly of the Mt. Albert League Football Club, applied to be reinstated to the Rugby code. Satherly stated that during his connection with League he had received no remuneration whatsoever for his services. It was resolved to support the application and to communicate with the parent body at Whakatane, asking that Union to forward the application to the New Zealand Rugby Union with a view to affecting a transfer. The Secretary’s action in having there-wiring of the flood'lights at Jubilee Park attended to was approved. The Maketu Club are also to be communicated with, congratulating it on the excellent state of its grounds. A grant of eight footballs is to be made to the various schools in the district. The Secretary was instructed to write to the Morrinsville Sub-union requesting a convenient date for a representative match. Also an effort was to be made to secure a match with an Auckland senior team to be played in Te Puke on King’s Birthday.
