It was pointed out that the eX tension, if made, would bo on the direct route to the Maori Pa, and would also pass close to a dwelling. On the motion of Mr Mends, who said the Hall Committee would be prepared to contribute £6 towards the cost, the application was acceded to.

One of the popular Scotch evenings arranged by the local Scottish Society was held in St. Andrew’s Hall on Friday night. The attendance was not as largo as usual, being affected, no doubt, by the recent Hospital concert and the faot that other entertainments were also being held simultaneously. A Children’s fancy dress dance will be held in the Papamoa Hall on Friday evening next, under the auspices of the Papamoa Women’s Institute. Novelty dances and a Monte Carlo are on the pro gramme and a few of the juveniles will give an exhibition of fancy dancing. A free bus will run if sufficient encouragement is offered.

A meeting convened by the Taurarg* Electric Power Board to be held in St. Andrew’s Hall on Friday last was remarkable for the fact that not a single consumer attended. The Board, it is stated, has taken this as a vote of confidence in its administration, but the real reason for the non-attendance was that it is regarded as purely a Tauranga body aud consumers at this end of the County would not take the trouble to attend,
