At a meeting of the Parents’ Association,;/held in the School last night, it was decided to place the School Clinic under the direct control of the Te Puke School Committee. r : Six teams of Boy Scouts took part in the u ? of-war contest at Whakatane list week, tho results being as follows : Taneatua beat Pongakawa, Whakatane beat Thornton. Cp >tiki beat Pongakawa, Wha 1 at&ne beat Taneatua. The final between Whakatane and Opotiki was won by the latter. . Mr W ( A. A correspondent of the Whakatane Press (Mr E. Law) expresses surprise and disappointnient at not finding in the butter and cheese section at the recent Winter Show a single exhibit. He points out that there are six butter and three oheese Faotories on the Coast, and asks whether thb cooperative companies are afraid of being beaten by a proprietary factory, or whether the directors are too dilatory and won’t take tho trouble to exhibit. A public meeting is to be held in St Andrew’s Hall on Wednesday next, May 23, at 730 p m Jt° consider the formation gada Division of St. JohtT Ambulance, in Te sufficient number of Tep-tfke students passed the exanrfnation held recently to enable / this to be done, and it is hoped that looal residents will give their moral support to the movement by attending the meeting. Certificates will be presented to the successful students. A number of local residents, supporters of the Douglas Social Credit proposals, met on Satur day, the 19 1 h May. when it was unanimously decided to form a branch of the Association in Te Puke. At the subsequent meeting interesting and instructive addresses were given by MessrsMoffat, Neilson, and Harrison of the Te Puna Branch, Officers were elected as follows : President, Mr G. Swoetman ; Vice President Mr T. Heathorington (Secretary, Mr R. Fulton; Committeemen, Messrs Wells, Ross and Ry* burn.
