Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Te Puke A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon. Mr W. J. • Law presided and there were also present Messrs D. S. ■Boss, A. Ryburn, R. Mutton, A. Fagan, M. Griffin, W. H. Evans, S. W. Mitchell, H. Gill, J. Neilsen, C. L. Luke, T. Heatherington, J. A. McGhie, A. Baker, E. Morton, K; Bennett and A. Snodgrass. The President expressed his

pleasure at seeing so many pre- ’ sent. It was most gratifying and the committee would greatly appreciate the large attendance. The minutes ,of the last annual

meeting were read by the Secre-

tary and confirmed. On the motion of Mr Luke, the : • balance sheet was taken as read. , The chairman then moved the adoption of the report and balance sheet. In doing so he stated ,• Ithat the last Show had resulted

in a profit of £39 4s 9d notwith-

standing the Show had to be postponed on aceount of, wet weather. As many other Associations had ■suffered a loss they could congrat- : ulate themselves on their success. The gate takings showed a de- . crease of £27 and there was also a decrease in the membership. An effort to enrol new members should be made, particularly junior members, who would eventually take the places of older. The committee had thought

it advisable to replace stools and tables and as the yards were de- >, teriorating it would be necessary 'shortly to have new plans drawn up that would make better use of the space available. The Mitchell Cup bad been won outright and they* should endeavour, if possible, to obtain more cups and trophies in' order to encourage breeders. The luncheon bad been .run on a different system whioh had proved satisfactory as there was less work and more profit. The inclusion of a Calf class had been most suodessful and had led to youhg people taking a greater interest in the Show. The Association was grateful for the assistance rendered by lads at the last Show and he would like to see more junior stewards appointed. Application had been made to en* gage unemployed for clearing’the Waiari reserve, but the regulations did not permit them to take advantage of their services, notwithstanding that men were looking for Work at the time. An effort had also been made to obtain a reduction Jof the rates on the Show ground, but as the Town Boaid had not the power to grant relief it was intended to try and obtain a revaluation of the property. Mr Mitchell seconded the motion.

In reply to JUr Morton, the Secretary stated all the assets had been written down and]it had been decided that there should be an anhual depreciation of 5 per cent, Mr Gill expressed bis' pleasure at finding there was a oredit balance. It was a proof ot good and economical management. The motion for the adoption of tbs report and balance sheet was then oarried.. A hearty vote of thanks was Passed to Mr W» H. Evans for his services as Auditor. Election of Officers

Mr Law stated that be had definitely decided to retire from the .position >of President. He had occupied the post for four years and had enjoyed his term of office. He had had a splendid body of, committee-men to Workj with and ‘ an Able Secretary and he thanked them for their assistance. Mr Gill spoke in laudatory terms of Mr Law's servioea during a strenuous time. It was due to his strength of character and good work that the Association had been held together. They had had a most efficient President and he had much pleasure in moving that a hearty Vote of thanks be accorded him. The motion Was carried by acclamation. /- The election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted as follows S Patron : Hon C. E. Macmillan,' M.P.

request was acceded to. North Island Conference Mr Law gave a summary ot the proceedings at the North Island Conference held at Palmerston* North. Points Prize It was decided that the Secretary write to each of the Associations in the Bay and request them to consider the question of awarding the points prize to other than bona fide owners of entries in cattle and horses. Royal Agricultural Society A letter was received from the Royal Agricultural Society suggesting the advisability of Societies joining up with that body.— The meeting approved of the proposal. New Members On the motion of Mr Heatherington;* Messrs W. E. Bone and A E. Parr were elected members. This concluded the lousiness.
